Matthew Baker ’15 Senior Profile: French and Francophone Studies

baker_matthewThe Modern Language Department at W&M is more than lectures and tenure – it is a center for sharing international languages and cultures with many diverse channels. Without the language programs, there would be no language houses, no friendly tutors, no immersion study abroad trips, fewer on campus celebrations of international festivals, and, most importantly, no motivated and caring professors who calmly correct our fautes de grammaire and errores ortográficos and push us to higher levels of engagement with texts, films, research, and critical analysis. I am also thankful for the collaborative skills that are taught in the modern language department through group classwork and projects, and it is exciting to see interlingual teamwork between the separate language professors. While it is hard to say goodbye to our inspirational home, we will carry our newfound appreciation for world cultures and our wider understanding of language learning opportunities into the world.

De plus, J’étais accepté pour travailler en France dans le programme TAPIF. Donc, l’année prochaine je vais enseigner l’anglais en France. Merci pour toute votre aide avec mon application pour le TAPIF.
